Zero to Hero is a story about Jollina, a social entrepreneur’s experience of being nearly unschooled because of negative influence around her. When nearly giving up and wanting to have a family and get married just to escape the difficulties in life and thinking that it would make her happier and secure, Jollina was found by a group of people. By mapping out and searching out-of-school youth(OSY) using the Tsunagari tool (Geo-palette), the group have Identified the number of OSY and by researching about the number of company vs country and realizing that it is less than the number of population (Geo-cosmos). The group were able to help Jollina get out of her situation and made her fulfill her dreams. She is currently helping those who are in need and paying it forward. Happiness for Jollina is not only the time that she was helped, but because she was able to get out of the pressure around her and led those people who have the same condition out. Jollina’s story is one of many stories of out-of-school youth, but through mapping, data gathering and reaching out, one can make a huge difference.

The Railway to Happiness

The Railway To Happiness is a video presentation of how happiness is created through railways and roads. We decided to focus on certain aspects of happiness. 10% of happiness, circumstance, is something we, as people, may affect. 40%, behavior, thoughts and actions, is something we may also affect, or, if we are the person himself or herself, control. Happy people tend to have deeper relationships, and try new experiences. Because traffic jams are a serious problem in the world today, especially in the Philippines, we realized that it causes people to be more disconnected and less able to nurture their deep relationships. If these roads are less congested with cars through the implementation of more railways, it will unite people more because they will have an easier time travelling to places and getting together. The circumstances, 10% of happiness, will be improved. These, in turn, may affect the 40%. And other things that lead to or encourage happiness will also be present. More human interaction makes more new experiences, and more relationships to nurture, with more people to befriend. A better railway system will lead to happiness.

IN 2013, there were two consecutive natural disasters that strcuk the country; the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Bohol and the Typhoon Haiyan or Super typhoon Yolanda, in Tacloban. A lot of people had died in these catastrophes and lot of people lost their properties. They had nothing but eavh other, but despite suffering from these calamitties, Filipinos found the strenght to rise once again. They remained happy and hopeful, and still remained generous to those in need, even though they themselves have nothing left.

A lot of indigenous groups in the Philippines are being deprived of their homes and ancestral land due to deforestation and military action. An example of an indigenous group experiencing this is the Lumads who are based in Mindanao. The Lumads are deprived of their homes because the Philippine government is ordering to cut down trees for commercialization. And even worse, due to militaary action, Lumads and other Philippine ethnic groups, young ang old, are being killed ( the women, raped ) for they protest leaving their homes.

The Philippine archipelago has one of the richest coasts in the world. From the stunning, blue seas and the fine sands of beaches, to the majestic view underwater. The clear seas are the home of varieties of exotic and free species of organisms. The colorful corals and schools of fish give life to the coast, add the endangered sea turtles (pawikan), sea cow (dugong) and whale shark (butanding). Series of vibrant colors give the sunset an exceptional ambiance and the fresh sunrise too.

This project is lead by Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) in collaboration with 6 science museums in the Asia Pacific region. The Mind Museum is the chosen partner for the Philippines. Know more about the project: http://picturehappinessonearth.blogsp...
